The prototype that never got developed 👽

In an industry that can come across so serious it’s fun to have a play every now and then. This ‘furniture kit’ is evidence of just that.

We’ve been asked time and time again about our ‘camper’ set up and we’ve always kept it under wraps… until now…
why? it’s almost embarrassing 😂 and the van is empty 90% of the time for work.

I knocked this ‘furniture kit’ up in a couple of evenings all from a fag box drawing with the offcuts I could get my hands on around the shop, coupled with 1 sheet of your finest 18mm hardwood-ply found on the racks of Wickes we have this master-piece.
It’s rough as f***, looks like sh**e but guess what?… it works! All for less than a nights stay at a travel lodge 😎 (not including the wonderful cushions by @davidpowellupholstery )
Molle Panels by @outofoffice1141 are a game-changer too!
This set up definitely makes for a fair-weather camper although we’ve had a right laugh trying to use it in adverse weather.

I think It’s easy to loose sight of what camping and the outdoors brings to our lives in a sea of superficiality and figurative d*** swinging.
Yeah it looks like sh**e up close but above all it’s got us out using the van and that’s what it’s all about for us.

There’s a ton of options out there when it comes to awnings and canopies, some are complete sh**e and some are not!
The roll-out awning encased in a black aluminium box from @arb4x4uk is not in any way sh**e, that’s why it’s a personal favourite of ours.
It’s packed with cool features, it’s as strong as an ox and the canvas doesn’t look like a 2 star holiday resorts-curtains 🤷‍♂️ we also supplied this awning with a full awning room that’s dead easy to put up 😎

Want a Tow-bar but you kind of don’t at the same time?

ALTVAN friend and legend Andy was after a tow-bar so he can load up to the nines for their yearly holiday into Europe.
Having such a clean ass looking motor he was after a Tow-bar to tow his new small trailer but was concerned of the aesthetics when he wasn’t.
So here is the solution: A system that literally looks like there isn’t a tow-bar there when you’re not using it ✅

ALTVAN no.1 customer Leigh has added a couple more bits to the long list of extras he’s already had fitted to his van by us at ALTVAN — this time a factory Multi-Function Steering Wheel with Cruise Control, coupled with the all-singing, all-dancing Alpine Halo 11 😎
Leigh really does know how to treat himself when it comes to his pride and joy. We love this van and are insanely jealous!

Both items are fully integrated into the vehicle’s CAN network, with all the necessary control-unit coding carried out — making these new goodies feel like the van rolled out of the factory with them.

We’ve had a great few days away in this incredible weather 😎
Whilst we’ve been away we have had a lot of questions about our ‘set-up’ which we are going to give you a tour around very soon… we think you’ll be surprised about how basic we camp!

Our main goal with our adventures is to ‘disconnect with the world’ with little needs from our camping spots but very sure on what we don’t like.

We’ve got a whole year of trading under our belt and for us the last 12months have flashed past! ⚡️
I will put my hands up and say owning and running a small business single handedly is no easy task, far harder than I could have ever imagined. Every day has been a lesson and I can’t thank those enough who have helped teach those lessons and keep my head above water this past year 🫶
I’ve always been guilty for not giving myself a chance to recognise my achievements but i’m very proud of what I have achieved in the past 12 months with ALTVAN.

I usually keep my cards pretty close to my chest but for ALTVAN this year things will look different!

Boujee-est van we’ve built to date and we’re in love!

Chris and Kirstie along with their van @vw_wally have been to us before but returned with a master plan… a complete refit!
We swapped out the old orange pop-top canvas for a smart grey scenic canvas, custom Bi-Fold oak-veneer bed board, the whole van was relined in a suede finish! yes, you heard that right, SUEDE! Finished off by a RIB safety tested bed and a lovely furniture kit from @seaside_campers . This is a real nice van!

Here’s 5 things we have learned from 2024 🌅

1- A two footed jump into a big puddle is as much fun now as it was when you were a kid.

2- Being liked and being valued are two very different things. Being valued is much more important.

3- Everyone is riding trends and everyone is copying each other, nothing anyone is doing is original but that’s okay.
Things may look the same on the outside but can be very different on the inside.

4- We still have no idea what SEO’s are and how they work and need to find someone who does 😅 (send us a DM 🫶)

5- We need to get ourselves more organised because 2025 seems to be starting with a bang! 🤣🙌

The last full conversion of 2024

This absolute unicorn of a T6 came to us after a recommendation from our BFFs at @seaside_campers.
This gave us the pleasure of meeting Kal, Kate and their lovely little fluffy boy Salty (sorry everyone but we do favour meeting your dogs 🙂)

The boys at @seaside_campers worked their magic piecing together the van and then sent it on down to us to bolt the dream together.
Nice and simple on the outside - packed with features on the inside, this van has been transformed into a lovely all weather camper ready for adventures.

Keeping to deadlines is paramount here at ALTVAN as it’s not like us to leave things to the last minute. This meant the guys had plenty of time to get familiar with the van before taking it on its maiden voyage up to Snowdonia 😎

Thank you Kal and Kate and of course little Salty for using ALTVAN we wish you many great memories and adventures with your van!

FOR SALE! : ARB BASE RACK FOR T5/5.1 & T6/6.1 SWB
2705mm x 1445mm and sit’s at a total of 95mm high at front centre of van.
This is an outstanding roof rack and in our opinion far better quality, look and fit compared to others on the market.

The roof rack is in perfect condition with no damage.
£1500 for the roof rack which is nearly a 25% saving on retail! (extra’s such as light-bar, rear lights & awning are NOT included but available at extra cost, other accessories also available upon request) the rack will come with a new wind deflector at the front if the light-bar is not required. We will also fit this rack to your van for free or you can come and collect it (fitting of extras will come at an extra cost).

Dann the Farming Contractor got in touch to see if we could make his life easier with the gift of sight at night!

We’ve fitted additional lamps front and rear on the existing vehicle circuits with isolation, a cheeky canopy lamp which he himself has said is a game changer! We have also fixed a 500w @victron_energy inverter under the drivers seat to keep his tools topped up on the go! This is on an ignition live so no fear of flattening the battery 💪

We’ve also been playing with his Trailer with more on this coming soon!

We’ve been a bit pants on socials recently with so much going on now and in the very near future.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who came to say hello while I was up at the show at the NEC. It’s been an absolute joy to meet so many wonderful people/converters and supporters!

We’re probably going to continue to be a little quiet for the next month or so as we work through the last of our conversion work and get the shop set up for the next phase.

Then it’s on to a whole lot of ego-satisfying overlander, swamper and 4x4 builds!
